iImprov – Contemporary Colors (http://jazzappsmobile.com/?page_id=42) Focuses on handling the chord changes that the user will find in the jazz repertoire from post bebop to the present; gives user the tools to take on chord progressions found in tunes by Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, and any other composer that has ventured away from the writing of chord changes that would be typically found in the Standards; these types of chord progressions would include highly altered chords, slash chords, and chords created from scale colors outside of diatonic major; lessons cover in detail how to use diminished, whole tone, augmented, Lydian augmented, and harmonic minor scales to play over these types of progressions; includes exercises, patterns, demos, and JAM-A-longs with balance control; transposable notation and tempo adjustable audio; many of the concepts are demoed by saxophonist Tony Bray; JAM-A-longs include individually created files for each key that will loop indefinitely; all keys are covered; tempos are adjustable; can set the overall transposition for a specific instrument; (iOS 5.1.1 or later; Android 2.1 and up).
