iImprov – Chord/Scale Compendium (http://jazzappsmobile.com/?page_id=46) Reference app that provides a visual and audio representation of the most useful scale to chord choices for jazz improvisation; ear training tool for learning the different scale and chord colors; organizes twenty-five different chord qualities into three families: Major, Minor, and Dominant; when a specific chord quality is selected, that chord is displayed in standard notation along with a key selection wheel; depending on the chord, from one to five scales are recommended; Fast Forward button cycles through the recommendations; Play button plays the currently selected chord and scale; chords are displayed in close position (stacked thirds) but the chord is sounded with a more practical voicing that might be encountered in a playing situation; in addition to written scales for each chord type and key, the scale can be played over a typical voicing for each chord; bass or treble clef and the appropriate transposition for the instrument can be selected; all scales and chords may be presented in any key; (iOS 6.0 or later; Android 2.1. and up).
